Chinese Chicken Wings Recipe
Chinese Chicken Wings are tender and juicy, coated in a sweet, savory, and slightly sticky sauce full of flavor. This recipe is easy to prepare and perfect as an appetizer or main dish with rice.
Ingredients: Chicken wings – 500 grams (drumettes and wingettes separated) Soy sauce – 3 tbsp Oyster sauce – 1 tbsp Hoisin sauce – 1 tbsp Brown sugar – 2 tbsp Garlic – 3 cloves (minced) Ginger – 1 tsp (minced) Rice vinegar – 1 tbsp Sesame oil – 1 tsp Water – ¼ cup Cornstarch – 1 tsp (mixed with 1 tbsp water for a slurry) Vegetable oil – 1 tbsp (for browning) Sesame seeds – for garnish (optional) Green onions – 2-3 (chopped for garnish) Instructions: Step 1: Marinate the Chicken Wings Prepare Marinade: In a large bowl, mix together the soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and minced garlic and ginger. Marinate Wings: Add the chicken wings to the marinade, toss to coat, and let them marinate for at least 30 minutes (or overnight for best results). Step 2: Brown the Wings Heat Oil: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a big pan or wok over medium-high heat. Brown the Wings: Add the marinated chicken wings to the pan and cook for 3-4 minutes per side, or until they are golden brown. Step 3: Simmer with Sauce Add Sauce and Water: Pour the remaining marinade and ¼ cup of water into the pan with the wings.After bringing it to a simmer, cover the pan and cook the wings for ten to fifteen minutes, stirring now and then. Thicken the Sauce: Add the cornstarch slurry to the pan, stirring to thicken the sauce until it becomes glossy and coats the wings. Step 4: Serve Garnish and Serve: Garnish the Chinese Chicken Wings with sesame seeds and chopped green onions. Serve hot with steaming rice or as an appetizer.
